This document summarizes infrastructure projects undertaken in the Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao regions of Assam, India, under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS). As of July 23, 2025, seven projects have been sanctioned in these regions under NESIDS.
In addition to NESIDS projects, the Government of India sanctioned Special Development Packages (SDPs) of ₹350 crore for the Dima Hasao Autonomous Territorial Council (DHATC) in 2012 and ₹200 crore for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council (KAATC) in 2011. A new development package of ₹500 crore was sanctioned for KAATC in 2021. Furthermore, other Central Ministries and Departments have undertaken infrastructure projects in the region under their respective schemes and programs.
The seven NESIDS projects include:
1. Infrastructure Development of Greater Kheroni Piped Water Supply Scheme in Karbi Anglong: Sanctioned cost of ₹21.88 crore, with ₹21.28 crore expended in the last three years.
2. Improvement and Upgradation of road from Rajagaon to Dalimbari in West Karbi Anglong District (L=24.72KM): Sanctioned cost of ₹80.73 crore, with ₹33.59 crore expended in the last three years.
3. Transformation of 3 nos of the State as Center of Excellence: Sanctioned cost of ₹400.00 crore, with ₹191.25 crore expended in the last three years.
4. Infrastructure Development of 65 Secondary School for construction of new school buildings: Sanctioned cost of ₹455.00 crore, with ₹0.00 crore expended in the last three years.
5. Construction of RCC Bridge No. 31 on the road from NH 39 Silonijan State Dispensary to Dhansiri Par Ghat via Panika Basti including approach Co: Sanctioned cost of ₹20.59 crore, with ₹18.42 crore expended in the last three years.
6. New Road from Chowkikhola to Tarapung via Borpung (L : 50.52KM): Sanctioned cost of ₹202.90 crore, with ₹49.13 crore expended in the last three years.
7. Construction of Double Lane Road from Lanka to Umrangso via Diyungmukh, Haflong Tinali and Panimur: Sanctioned cost of ₹227.17 crore, with ₹137.28 crore expended in the last three years.
The total sanctioned cost for these seven projects is ₹1408.27 crore, with a total expenditure of ₹450.95 crore in the last three years. The information was provided by the Minister of State of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar.

Will the Minister of DEVELOPMENT OF NORTH EASTERN REGION be pleased
to state:
(a) the details of infrastructure projects taken up in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao
under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS);
(b) the total funds allocated and utilised during the last three years;
(c) whether any new projects have been proposed for the current financial year; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) Under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS),
seven projects have been sanctioned in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao region, the
details of which are annexed.
The Government had sanctioned Special Development Packages (SDPs) of
₹350 crore and ₹200 crore in respect of Dima Hasao Autonomous Territorial Council
(DHATC) in 2012 and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council (KAATC) in 2011
respectively, and a number of projects were taken up under these packages. Further, the
Government sanctioned a new development package for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous
Territorial Council (KAATC) of ₹500 crore in 2021, under which additional infrastructure
projects have been taken up.
In addition, a number of infrastructure projects have been taken up by other
Central Ministries/ Departments in the North Eastern Region, inter-alia, including the
Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao region under their relevant schemes/programmes.
