Dr. Alok Kumar Suman: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that most of the Kendriya Vidyalayas in Bihar are running in the rented accommodation and paying huge amount of rent despite the availability of land for construction of its own building; (b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of such schools running in rented accommodation and the time since; (c) whether the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has taken up the matter related to rented accommodation of Kendriya Vidyalayas with the State Government, if so, the details thereof and if not, reasons therefor; (d) whether the organization have written or received any communication from district magistrate of Gopalganj regarding availability of land for construction of Kendriya Vidyalayas, if so, the details thereof; and (e) whether it is a fact that non-construction of permanent building compel to Government to pay huge amount for rent, if so, the details of measures taken by the Government in this regard during the last five years? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a) to (e) Proposals for opening of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) may be sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories Administrations, with commitment to provide requisite extent of suitable land, free of cost, for construction of the permanent building and suitable rent-free temporary accommodation to run the Vidyalaya till the permanent building is constructed.As per information received from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), at present, 51 KVs are functioning in the state of Bihar out of which 17 KVs are functioning from the rent-free temporary building/accommodation provided by the Government of Bihar/ sponsoring authorities. No rent for building/accommodation is being paid by KVS for any KV in the state of Bihar. Government of Bihar is repeatedly reminded regarding providing land for construction of Kendriya Vidyalayas. The land for construction of KV, Gopalganj has been approved by Government of Bihar in July, 2025 and lease deed has also been signed between KVS and district administration. Construction of permanent buildings for KVs is a continuous process, which depends upon identification of suitable land, completion of lease formalities in favour of KVS by the sponsoring authorities, submission of drawings / estimates by construction agency, availability of funds and requisite approvals etc. *****
