SHRI MANI A: Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state: (a) whether 184 new Khadi institutions have received KHADI certificates for carrying out Khadi production across the country during the last three years; (b) if so, the number of such Khadi institutions established in Tamil Nadu during the same period, year-wise and district-wise; (c) whether any Khadi institution has been established in or near the Dharmapuri Lok Sabha Constituency; (d) whether the Government has undertaken any targeted initiatives to promote Khadi production and employment in Dharmapuri Lok Sabha Constituency; (e) if so, the details of the schemes or assistance extended to artisans, weavers and Khadi workers in the Dharmapuri region under such initiatives; and (f) the steps taken by the Government to further promote Khadi-based employment and entrepreneurship among rural youth and women in backward districts such as Dharmapuri? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a): Yes, 184 new Khadi Institutions have received Khadi Certificate for carrying out Khadi production across the country during the period from 2021-22 to 2023-24. (b): Two new Khadi Institutions have been registered for implementing Khadi activities in Tamil Nadu State during the period from 2021-22 to 2023-24. The government is also providing the following support: (i) KVIC conducts training programmes for skill development through Departmental and Non- Departmental Training Centres and training partners all over the country including backward districts. (ii) Modified Market Development Assistance (MMDA) is being given to producing Khadi Institutions, Khadi Artisans and Khadi Karyakartas, which in turn increases the working capacity of the Khadi Institutions and income of Khadi artisans. (iii) Workshed Scheme for Khadi Artisans provides assistance for construction of individual as well as group workshed for better work environment. (iv) Interest Subsidy Eligibility Certificate (ISEC) facilitates credit at concessional rate of interest through Banks as per requirement of the Khadi Institutions (KIs) for production of khadi. *****
