Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृषि और ककसान कल्याण मंत्री be pleased to state:
(a) whether Biswanath district in Assam being predominantly an agrarian region necessitates a dedicated Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) for the dissemination of agricultural schemes, training and modern farming techniques to the local farmers;
(b) whether any proposal has been received from the State Government of Assam/the concerned agency or is under consideration for the establishment of a KVK in the said district;
(c) if so, the current status of the said proposal and whether any budgetary provisions have been made for this purpose in the current or the upcoming financial year; and
(d) if so, the likely schedule for the approval and construction of the said KVK and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृषि और ककसान कल्याण मंत्री (SHRI SHIVRAJ SINGH CHOUHAN)
(a) to (d): A Statement is laid on the Table of the House. ******** 1STATEMENT IN RESPECT OF PARTS (a) to (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 157 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10TH FEBRUARY, 2026 REGARDING “KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA IN ASSAM”
(a): Biswanath is a newly created district of Assam bifurcating Sonitpur district and is predominantly an agrarian district. There is a need for dissemination of modern agricultural technologies for the benefits of farming communities. At present, KVK Sonitpur is carrying out activities in Biswanath District also.
(b) & (c): No such proposal has been received from the State Government of Assam/the concerned agency for the establishment of KVK in the Biswanath district.
However, this district has been included in the EFC (2021-26) document for establishment of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK).
(d): Opening of KVK in newly created district is a continuous process as per prescribed procedure and guidelines. The process of establishment of KVK in the district is considered only after receiving of requisite approval, fulfilment of essential criteria and availability of funds.
