Medical device park
2735 # Shri Neeraj Dangi:
Will the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that 70 per cent of the consumption of medical devices, surgical supplies
and equipment is met through imports;
(b) if so, the details of goods imported in the last two years;
(c) whether Government has any proposal to set up medical device parks in the States,
particularly in Rajasthan; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): No, Sir. Imports constitute around 60% of the domestic consumption of medical
devices. The segment-wise details of imports of medical devices, surgical supplies and
equipment during the last two financial years given below:

(c) & (d): Three Medical Device Parks are being established in the States of Uttar Pradesh,
Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. No such proposal is currently under consideration of the
Department of Pharmaceuticals to set up a medical device park in the State of Rajasthan.
