Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:

(a) the details of Mega Food Parks, food processing projects/units, Agro Processing Clusters and Cold Chain projects approved and sanctioned during the last five years, State-wise, including in Bihar and Telangana;

(b) the total amount disbursed/assistance released and utilized for these projects, State and district-wise, including Bihar and Telangana;

(c) the steps taken to promote exports of processed food, value addition, reduce post- harvest losses and generate employment;

(d) whether the Government proposes to set up Mega Food Parks, Food Processing Clusters or Cold Chain Projects in Bihar particularly in the Kosi-Seemanchal region and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether any proposals from the State Government of Telangana are pending with the Ministry and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI CHIRAG PASWAN)

(a) & (b): The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) provides financial assistance for setting up food processing projects under the Central Sector umbrella scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) across the country. The State-wise and district- wise details of food processing projects/ units, Agro Processing Clusters and Cold Chain projects approved/sanctioned during the last five years, including in Bihar and Telangana, along with the amount of grants-in-aid released and utilized, are placed at the Annexure. The Mega Food Park component of PMKSY has been discontinued with effect from 01.04.2021.

(c): The component schemes under PMKSY provide financial assistance in the form of grants-in-aid/subsidy for creation of modern food processing and preservation infrastructure.

The scheme is aimed at creating modern food processing infrastructure and value addition facilities, strengthening the food processing sector, reducing post-harvest losses, enhancing the processing and preservation of agricultural produce, generating employment, and providing better remuneration to farmers.As on 30.06.2026, 1256 projects are operational under PMKSY, generating 9.16 lakh employment opportunities and creating 294.21 LMT per annum of processing and preservation capacity. The infrastructure created under the scheme has strengthened the food processing ecosystem, promoted value addition, improved supply chain efficiency, reduced post-harvest losses through the capacities created, and contributed to the growth of the food processing sector and exports of processed food products.

(d) & (e): MoFPI extends financial assistance under PMKSY for setting up or expansion of eligible projects. PMKSY is demand-driven in nature and funds are not allocated/sanctioned/released state-wise under any of the component schemes of PMKSY.

Applications are invited through Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from all over the country, including Kosi-Seemanchal region of Bihar and Telangana. The proposals received are scrutinized for eligibility and evaluated as per the applicable scheme guidelines. Financial assistance is provided to eligible projects approved on merit, subject to availability of funds.
