SHRI ABDUL RASHID SHEIKH: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has any plans to hold winter suports in Budgam and Dod-pathriin Jammu and Kashmir; and (b) the measures taken/being taken by the Government to organise Mega International Winter Tournaments in Gulmarg? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS [DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA] (a) At present, no such proposal is under consideration. (b) Sports competitions, both national level and international level, are organised by the concerned National Sports Federations (NSFs) in terms of the rules and regulations prescribed by the concerned International Federation. Under the Scheme of Assistance to NSFs, financial assistance is provided to the recognised NSF for holding national championship and hosting international tournaments in India. Under the Khelo India Scheme, Khelo India Winter Games are organised yearly in Gulmarg and Leh. Since its inception, the Government has organized 06 editions of the Khelo India Winter Games, witnessing a total participation of more than 5,200 athletes. ***** Page 1 of 1
