MIGRATION OF INDIAN MILLIONAIRES
1509. SHRI SANJAY SINGH
Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state :-
(a) whether Government has any official estimates on the stock of High-Net-Worth- Individuals
(HNWIs) residing abroad as on the latest date, if so, the details thereof; and
(b) the number of millionaires leaving India during the last five years along with the destination
countries, year-wise?

(a & b) No classification by expression "High Net Worth” (HNW) can be made in the absence of
its definition in the Income-Tax Act, 1961. Data on Indian citizens leaving the country does not
include their assets.
