MODEL SOLAR VILLAGES IN MAHARASHTRA

Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) the details of projects approved under Pradhan Mantri-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM
SGMBY) for the State of Maharashtra, particularly in Dhule and Nashik districts;
(b) the details of all model solar villages under component-B of PM-SGMBY particularly in
Maharashtra, district-wise;
(c) whether the Government has received any proposals/ request from the Government of
Maharashtra for the same; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Union Government thereon?

(a) PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) is a demand driven scheme for installation
of rooftop solar (RTS) systems, wherein all residential consumers in the country having grid
connected electricity connection of the local DISCOM can avail the benefits of the scheme by
applying on the National Portal of the scheme.
In the state of Maharashtra, a total of 5,17,763 applications received on the National portal of
the scheme as on 30.11.2025, and a total of 3,54,687 RTS systems have been installed,
benefitting 5,66,932 households. The details in respect of the Dhule and Nashik districts are as
follows:

(b) to (d) One of the components of PMSG: MBY is development of Model Solar Village in
each district of the country. An amount of Rs 800 crore has been allocated for this component
with a provision of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of Rs 1 crore per model village. The
selection of the village to be developed as model solar village is to be based on challenge mode.
REC Ltd., the National Programme Implementing Agency for PMSG: MBY has reported that
as on 28.11.2025, the challenge mode has been concluded in 390 districts, of which 174 districts
have declared the villages to be developed as model solar villages.
The state of Maharashtra is yet to submit DPR for development of model solar village in any of
the district.
