ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
(DR. PEMMASANI CHANDRA SEKHAR)
(a) The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in association with the Department of Posts (DoP),
decided to establish Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) at Head Post Offices/ Post Offices
in each Lok Sabha constituency where no Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or POPSK existed. Out of
543 Lok Sabha constituencies, 515 are presently covered by either a PSK (93) or a POPSK (456).
Operationalization of POPSKs in the remaining Lok Sabha constituencies is dependent upon several
factors like identification of suitable space, completion of civil and electrical works, and technical
enablement by the Regional Passport Offices.
(b) All the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi are covered by either a PSK or a POPSK.
(c) The planned modernization of Tughlakabad post office has been completed. Advanced Postal
Technology (APT) has been successfully rolled out at the post office under IT Modernisation Project
2.0. The post office has also been upgraded from a Branch Post Office to a Sub Post Office on
27.04.2026.
