expand ports in the country under the Sagarmala Programme;

(c) the steps taken to promote inland water transport as a cost-effective and eco-
friendly mode of transport; and
(d) the details of cargo traffic handled and employment generated through port
development initiatives, State-wise?

(a) & (b) There are 839 projects worth investment of Rs. 5.79 Lakh crores for
implementation under the Sagarmala Programme. These projects are implemented by
Central Ministries, lWAl, Indian Railways, State Government and Major Ports etc. Out
of these, 280 projects worth Rs. 1.42 lakh Cr. have been completed and 209 projects
worth Rs. 1.62 lakh Cr. are under implementation. Further, 350 projects worth Rs. 2.75
Lakh Cr. are under various stages of development.
(c) The measures taken by the Government to promote Inland Water Transport
(IWT), including cargo movement through National Waterways and multimodal
logistics integration includes (i) infrastructure development such as community jetties
and tourist jetties, floating terminals, permanent IWT terminals, fairway maintenance
work and (ii) policy measures such as Cargo Promotion Scheme, shift of cargo by
PSUs and integration with Ports.
(d) State Wise details of cargo traffic handled in various Ports are annexed.
