Parliament Question: Modernization of ITIs in Private and Government Sectors

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 217 ANSWERED ON 21.07.2025 MODERNIZATION OF ITIs IN PRIVATE AND GOVERNMENT SECTORS 217. DR. C M RAMESH Will the Minister of SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP be pleased to state: (a) the number of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) going to be modernized in private and Government sectors with Rs. 60,000 crores national scheme approved, with a particular reference to Andhra Pradesh; (b) the details of new and innovative courses that are going to be introduce under the said initiatives; (c) whether any consultations have been held with the industry in this regard; and; (d) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a) It has been decided to upgrade a total of one-thousand (1,000) Government ITIs across the country in hub-and-spoke model. No State-wise allocation have been made under the scheme. (b) The approved scheme provides flexibility to Industry Partner to redesign existing courses and introduce new courses to align with industry needs and improve employability. (c) Yes, sir. (d) Consultations have been held with industry associations and key industry players. These include associations such as the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI), the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the Indian Staffing Federation, the Tirupur Exporters' Association, and electronics manufacturing clusters. Leading companies consulted include Maruti Suzuki India Limited, JSW Limited, the Tata Group, Schneider Electric, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the Adani Group, J&K Cements Limited, Reliance Industries, Samsung, and leading pharmaceutical companies. *****
