GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION No. 1875 TO BE ANSWERED ON 09.03.2026 MSME REACH AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT IN SIKKIM 1875. SHRI DORJEE TSHERING LEPCHA: Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state: (a) the total number of enterprises registered under the Udyam Registration Portal in the State of Sikkim during the last three years, year-wise; (b) the total number of projects assisted under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in Sikkim during the last three years along with estimated employment generated; (c) the total number of loan guarantees approved under the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) in Sikkim during the last three years, year-wise; and (d) steps taken by Government to improve MSME penetration and entrepreneurship development in hilly and border States like Sikkim? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a): Udyam Registration Portal was launched on 01.07.2020. As on 05.03.2026, the number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registered on Udyam Registration Portal and Udyam Assist Platform is 7.83crore, of which 36,269 MSMEs are registered in Sikkim. TRIPURA 3,14,007 Government implements various schemes for the promotion and development of MSMEs across the country including in hilly and border States like Sikkim.These schemes/ programmes include Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises, Micro and Small Enterprises-Cluster Development Programme, Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme, Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme, Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance, International Cooperation scheme, Tool Rooms, Technology Centre System Programme, National SC/ST Hub, MSME Champions, PM Vishwakarma etc. The scheme “Promotion of MSMEs in NER and Sikkim” was launched in the year 2016 and has been continued with budget outlay of Rs. 295.0 Crore for 2021-2026.Since inception of the scheme in 2016,73 projects have been approved and Rs. 352.86 cr released as Government of India grant. The above scheme provides financial support to create or upgrade infrastructure and common facilities for MSMEs in the NER to supplement manufacturing, testing, packaging, R&D, product & process innovations and skilling activities. Scheme components include: i. Setting up of new and modernization of existing Mini Technology Centers: Assistance from Government of India upto Rs. 13.50 crore or 90% of the project cost, whichever is less. ii. Development of new and existing Industrial Estates: Assistance from Government of India upto Rs.13.50 crore for development of New Industrial Estate or Rs.9.00 crore for development of Existing Industrial Estate or 90% of the project cost, whichever is less. iii. Development of Tourism Sector: Assistance from Government of India up to Rs. 4.50crore or90% of the project cost whichever, is less. ***
