Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state:
(a) the current status of the MSME Tool Room in Kolkata, including its facilities and services
being provided to support MSMEs in the region;
(b) the number of training programmes conducted by the Tool Room along with the number of
trainees who have benefited, categorized by sector and skill level during the past three years;
(c) the funds allocated/utilized for upgrading training infrastructure and technology at the Tool
Room during the last five years along with the steps being taken to enhance the training capacity
and introduce advanced skill development programmes for MSMEs in Kolkata and surrounding
areas; and
(d) whether the Ministry has any collaborations with industries or international organizations to
improve training standards and technology adoption at the MSME Tool Room, Kolkata, if so, the
details thereof?

(a): MSME Tool Room [(Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC)], Kolkata, provides
technological support to industries particularly MSMEs through design and manufacturing of tools,
dies, moulds, precision components and consultancy services in related areas. It also conducts
industry-oriented skilling programmes. The Centre is equipped with modern Computer Numerical
Control (CNC) Machines, Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM), Vacuum Heat Treatment Furnace,
advanced design and manufacturing software.
(b): During the last three years (2022-23 to 2024-25), CTTC Kolkata conducted 234 training
programmes of NSQF Levels 3 to 7 including short term training programmes and trained 16,589
trainees. The Sector-wise details of trainees trained during the last three years are as under:

(c): The Grant-in-Aid sanctioned/utilized for upgrading training infrastructure and technology at
CTTC Kolkata during the last five years is Rs. 21.87 crore. Steps taken to enhance training capacity
and introduce advanced skill development programmes include:
i. Construction of a 7-storey hostel for trainees.
ii. Introduction of advance skill development programme such as NIELIT “O” Level courses
and short term courses in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML),
Data Analytics, Jr. Embedded Developer, Visual Effects (VFX) Associate, etc.
(d): CTTC Kolkata has entered into an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur for technology collaboration activities. The training
programmes are vetted by local industry associations, academia and Governing Council members,
such as the Indian Plastics Federation and Jadavpur University.
