Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state:
(a) the number of registered Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operating in hill
districts such as Ri-Bhoi, East Jaintia, Eastern West Khasi and South West Khasi Hills;
(b) the extent of credit, subsidy and skill development support provided under Prime Minister's
Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional
Industries (SFURTI) and other MSME schemes in these regions; and
(c) whether the Government proposes to develop cluster-based industries like weaving, handicrafts
and bamboo products in the hill areas and if so, the details thereof?

(a): Udyam Registration Portal was launched on 01.07.2020. As on 30.11.2025, the number of
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registered in the hill districtssuch as Ri-Bhoi, East
Jaintia, Eastern West Khasi and South West Khasi Hillsare given below.

(b): Ministry of MSME, through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), is
implementing the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). It is a central
sector scheme generating employment opportunities primarily in rural areas by assisting prospective
entrepreneurs in setting up new micro enterprises in the non-farm sector across the country including
Meghalaya.The PMEGP’s performance of all these districts in provided in Annexure I.: 2 :
Under Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) the Ministry of MSME
provides comprehensive financial and capacity-building support to traditional artisans across the
country, including those in North - Eastern regions, J&K, and hilly states. In the NER, J&K, and hilly
states, the component for GoI assistance is 95% of the total project cost, whereas for other regions it is
90%. Skill training, capacity building and design development constitute the Soft Intervention
component of SFURTI, under which each cluster receives assistance of up to 10% of the Hard
Interventions or Rs. 25 lakh, whichever is lower.
(c): Ministry of MSME is implementing Micro and Small Enterprises - Cluster Development
Programme (MSE-CDP) across the country. The objective of the scheme is to enhance the
productivity and competitiveness of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) for their holistic
development adopting cluster development approach by extending financial assistance as Gol grant to
establish Common Facility Centers (CFCs) in the existing clusters and establish/up-grade
infrastructural facilities in new/existing industrial estates/areas/flatted factory complexes. This is
Central Sector and demand driven Scheme and proposals under the scheme are received from the
State/UT Governments to address the common needs of existing cluster in their States/UTs.
The details of approved projects for setting up of CFCs (weaving, handicrafts and bamboo products) in
the hill areas under MSE-CDP Scheme are as follows:
