MUTHALAPPOZHY FISHING HARBOUR

Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING be pleased to state:
(a) the present status of the implementation of the project of Rs.177 crore approved by the Union
Government in November, 2024 for ensuring safety and smooth operation of Muthalappozhy Fishing
Harbour in Kerala;
(b) the details of fund released, utilized and the progress of works till date;
(c) the details of measures taken by the Government to complete the development works without further
delay; and
(d) the timeline by which sanctioned projects are likely to be completed?

(a) to (d) The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying,
Government of India has accorded administrative approval on 01st November, 2024 for Expansion of
Muthalapozhy Fishing Harbour at Thiruvananthapuram District in Kerala at an estimated cost of Rs.177
Crore with central share of Rs 106.20 Crore under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana
(PMMSY). The project has been implemented by the State Government of Kerala.
During the financial year 2025-2026 and 2026-27, the central funds of Rs 100 Crore and Rs 30 Crore
respectively has been allocated to Government of Kerala under PMMSY in SNA SPARSH towards
implementation of various components/activities approved to Kerala under PMMSY including
Muthalappozhy Fishing Harbour project. The State Government of Kerala has reported that Rs 45.41
Crore has been utilised under this project. The physical progress of works as reported by the State is
30%.
The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, regularly reviews the implementation of projects
approved under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) including the Muthalappozhy
Fishing Harbour project. Further, the State Government of Kerala has stated that the concerned state
government officials are reviewing the work twice in a month to avoid delay in the progress of work.
The State Government of Kerala has stated that the due date of completion of work is 31.12.2027.
