(c) the details of components under which bio-energy projects have been set up in
Andhra Pradesh under Phase-I;
(d) the details of preparations that the Government is making for Phase-II since Phase-I
is likely to be completed by this financial year; and
(e) the details of financial and other assistance extended to Andhra Pradesh to install bio-
energy projects since the launch of NBP?

(a) To attain the ambitious renewable energy targets and to achieve self-reliance in the energy
sector, the National Bioenergy Programme (NBP) is being implemented by the Ministry of
New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) with the following objectives: -
i. To support the setting up of waste to energy projects for generation of biogas,
compressed biogas and power from urban, industrial, agricultural wastes and residues;
ii. To support setting up of biomass briquette and pellet manufacturing plants and to
support biomass (non-bagasse) based cogeneration projects; and
iii. Setting up of small and medium size biogas plants for clean cooking fuel and meeting
the stationary needs of thermal and small power applications.
(b) & (c) The district-wise details of bioenergy projects supported under the three sub-
components of the NBP in the state of Andhra Pradesh are given in the Annexure-I.
(d) The Ministry as a pre-requisite for Phase-II preparation, have initiated carrying out the
third-party evaluation of Phase-I of NBP.
(e) The Central Financial Assistance (CFA) pattern under NBP is given at Annexure-II.
