(a) the details of the initiatives taken by the Government under the National Food Security
& Nutrition Mission (NFSNM) to ensure food and nutrition security in the country, State-
wise;
(b) the details of allocation made during the last three years, State-wise;
(c) the details of assistance being provided to the farmers for the cultivation of food crops;
(d) whether the Government has taken any steps/measures to promote bio-fortified
varieties of rice and wheat;
(e) if so, the details thereof, particularly in respect of Durg Parliamentary Constituency; and
(f) the details of the beneficiary farmers of Sidhi Parliamentary Constituency?

(a) to (f): The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) is implementing
the National Food Security & Nutrition Mission (NFSNM) in the 28 States and 2 Union
Territories (UTs) with the objective to increase production of Rice, Wheat, Pulses, Coarse
Cereals (Maize & Barley), Commercial Crops (Cotton, Jute & Sugarcane) and Nutri-Cereals
(Shree Anna) through area expansion and productivity enhancement. However, a separate
mission namely ‘Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses’ has been approved by the Union
Cabinet on 1st October, 2025.
The details of Allocation of funds under National Food Security and Nutrition Mission
(Central Share) to the States/UTs from 2022-23 to 2024-25 is Annexed.
Under NFSNM, assistance is being provided to the farmers, through the States/UTs,
for demonstration on crop production & protection technologies, for distribution of certified
seeds, for production of certified seeds (nutri-cereals), for Integrated Nutrient and Pest
Management measures, for capacity building of farmers through cropping system-based
trainings etc.; and seed minikits of newly released varieties/hybrids (nutri-cereals), are also
distributed through the states by agencies. The mission also provides support to Indian
Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) & State Agricultural Universities (SAUs)/Krishi
Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) for technology back stopping and transfer of technology to the
farmer under supervision of Subject Matter Specialists/Scientists.Flexibility has been given to States/UTs including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh
to identify districts for implementation of the different components of the Mission, subject to
inter alia conditions, that prioritize districts with low productivity but high potential.
Under NFSNM, for the promotion of latest varieties including bio-fortified varieties,
assistance is being provided for conducting demonstrations, for seed production and seed
distribution. A project for organizing Cluster Frontline Demonstration (CFLDs) on
Biofortified varieties of Rice, Wheat, Coarse Cereals (Barley & Maize) and Nutri-cereals
(Sorghum, Pearl millet & Finger millet) by Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) through Indian
Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is being implemented under NFSNM during 2025-
26.
The ICAR has also conducted CFLDs for Biofortified variety (HI-8759) of wheat in
20.0 acres that benefitted 25 farmers of two villages of Durg under NFSNM during 2025-
26. During 2019-20 to 2021-22, Biofortified varieties (Zinc rice-1, Zinc rice-2, Zinco rice,
Protozen) of paddy were demonstrated by ICAR in 39.5 acres that benefitted 40 farmers of
12 villages under Frontline Demonstrations (FLDs). Further, in Sidhi district, CR Dhan 310
bio-fortified variety of paddy has been demonstrated by ICAR in 10 acres that has
benefitted 10 farmers of five villages and WB02 bio-fortified variety of wheat in 10 acres
that has benefitted 10 farmers of four villages.
The details of the beneficiary farmers of Sidhi Parliamentary Constituency as reported
by the Directorate of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, State Government of
Madhya Pradesh is as under;
