SHRI DILESHWAR KAMAIT Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ िष एवं िकसान क(cid:670)ाण मं(cid:361)ी be pleased to state: (a) the details of the targets approved for oil palm cultivation under the National Mission on Edible Oils–Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) and the corresponding area brought under oil palm cultivation against these targets, State-wise; (b) whether the Government is implementing any national mission to achieve self- sufficiency in edible oils in the country and if so, the details thereof; (c) the details of the potential area identified and the present area under oil palm cultivation, State-wise; and (d) whether the Government proposes to enhance the financial assistance provided under the Area Expansion Programme of the NMEO-OP and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ िष एवं िकसान क(cid:670)ाण मं(cid:361)ी (SHRI SHIVRAJ SINGH CHOUHAN) (a) to (d): A statement is laid on the Table of the House.STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN RESPECT OF PARTS (a) TO (d) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 330 FOR 11TH AUGUST, 2026 REGARDING “NATIONAL MISSION ON EDIBLE OILS – OIL PALM” (a) & (b): The Government is implementing the National Mission on Edible Oils (NMEO), comprising the National Mission on Edible Oils–Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) and the National Mission on Edible Oils–Oilseeds (NMEO-OS), with the objective of increasing domestic production of edible oils and reducing import dependence. NMEO-OP was launched in 2021-22 with a target of 6.5 lakh hectares oil palm cultivation from 2021-22 to 2025-26. The Mission is being implemented in 15 States, (Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Tripura). The State-wise mission targets and achievements are enclosed at Annexure-I. NMEO-OS was launched in 2024-25 to enhance the production and productivity of major oilseed crops such as Rapeseed-Mustard, Groundnut, Soybean, Sunflower, Sesame, Niger & Safflower as well as secondary sources like Cottonseed, Rice bran, Corn, Coconut based oils and Tree-borne oils. NMEO-OS promotes improved seed varieties, cluster demonstrations, technology dissemination and other interventions across the oilseed value chains. (c): The State-wise details of the potential area and area under oil palm cultivation in the implementing States are enclosed at Annexure-II.
