Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has taken any measures to promote awareness regarding the
importance and benefits of National Cadet Corps (NCC) training among students and
institutions;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number of Government and public schools in the country offering NCC training,
State/UT-wise;
(d) whether the Government proposes to make NCC training mandatory in all Government and
public schools; and

IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
(a) to (e) NCC is a voluntary organization. There is no proposal to make NCC training
compulsory. NCC is presently operational in 21,819 educational institutions throughout the
country. To promote awareness regarding National Cadet Corps (NCC) among students and
institutions, the officers of NCC Units visit educational institutions to provide awareness. In
addition, NCC activities are also publicised through social media.
