Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is working towards achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by
the year 2030 and if so, the details thereof along with the present status of non-fossil capacity
addition in the country including Tamil Nadu;
(b) whether the Government is engaging with nationalised banks and financial institutions to
increase loan commitments for Renewable Energy (RE) projects and if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the households in Tamil Nadu particularly Dharmapuri district are benefiting from
collateral-free loans at 7 percent interest under the Pradhan-Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana
(PM-SGMBY) for rooftop solar installation up to 3 KW and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) whether IREDA, REC, PFC and Public Sector Banks are extending RE loans in Tamil Nadu
including Dharmapuri and if so, the details thereof along with the number and value of such loans
sanctioned during the last three years?

(a) Yes. As on 31.10.2025, a total of 259.42 GW non-fossil fuel based electricity capacity has been
installed in the country, including 29.2 GW non-fossil capacity installed in the State of Tamil Nadu.
(b) The Government under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has made a provision of collateral
free loan from nationalized banks at concessional interest rate of repo-rate plus 50 bps, i.e. 6% per
annum for the present, with tenure of 10 years.
(c) As per the information received from the REC Ltd., which is the national programme
implementing agency for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY), a total of 14,029
applications for collateral-free loans up to Rs. 2 lakh were submitted in the State of Tamil Nadu
including Dharmapuri district under PM-SGMBY. Of these, 8,937 loans including loans for 174
households in Dharmapuri district have been sanctioned, and loans amounting to Rs. 117.08 crore
have been disbursed to 7,865 applicants, as of 25.11.2025.
(d) As per the information received from the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of
Finance, the details of loans sanctioned by IREDA, REC, PFC and Public Sector Banks for
renewable energy projects in the State of Tamil Nadu including Dharamapuri district, during the
last three years are given below:
