(a) the number of residents/occupants on the land of Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) who have
been issued notices under the Public Premises Act;
(b) the reasons for such notices and the provision in the Act;
(c) whether the Government has received several representations and complaints from
various residents, tenant organisations and MPs in this regard;
(d) the details of the action taken by the Government on such representations to resolve
the issues of such residents/occupants; and
(e) the details about the latest position in this regard?

(a) & (b) Under Section 4(1) of Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized
Occupants) Act, 1971 (PPE Act), a total of 191 notices have been issued to residents /
occupants due to expiry of leases and violations of terms of leases such as illegal
subletting / subleasing / assignment / change of use / unauthorized constructions / non-
payment of arrears of compensation, etc.
(c) to (e) Yes. The action has been taken in accordance with the Policy Guidelines for
Land Management (PGLM), 2015 for Major Ports.
