SHRI DAGGUMALLA PRASADA RAO: Will the Minister of SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP be pleased to state: (a) the details of the number of National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) established across the country, State/UT-wise; (b) whether the Government proposes to establish such Institute to provide advanced technical and vocational training including Artificial intelligence (AI) trade in Andhra Pradesh; (c) if so, the details of the proposal, including location, capacity, estimated cost and timeline for its implementation; (d) the details of new courses and trades proposed to be offered at the existing NSTIs and new NSTIs including the parameters used to decide industry needs; (e) whether the Government has allocated funds or sought industry partnerships for establishing such an NSTI in Andhra Pradesh, if so, the details thereof and (f) the details of the steps taken by the Government to strengthen skill development infrastructure and trainer capacity in NSTIs in line with national standards? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a) to (f): A statement is laid on the table of the HouseSTATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (A) TO (F) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *240 ANSWERED ON 09.03.2026 ASKED BY SHRI DAGGUMALLA PRASADA RAO REGARDING ‘NSTI OFFERING TRAINING ON AI TRADE’ (a) The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), runs the Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) through a network of 33 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) (19 Women &14 General) and 5 Extension Centres across the country with an objective to provide comprehensive training, in both hands-on skills and training methodology to the instructor trainees to make them conversant with techniques for training skilled manpower for the industry. State/UT-wise details of the NSTIs across the country is given at Annexure-I. (b) to (e) In-principle approval of Department of Expenditure (DoE) for the establishment of new NSTI in Andhra Pradesh has been obtained vide OM dated 28.10.2025 placed at Annexure-II. The estimated cost for the new NSTI is ₹100 crore, and the tentative timeline for implementation is three years, subject to availability of land and completion of statutory approvals. The existing NSTI Extension Centre at Visakhapatnam has a training capacity of 50 trainees. The new NSTI is expected to augment this capacity by introducing additional long-term and short-term courses, along with advanced skilling and upskilling programmes. The new courses and trades to be offered at the new & existing NSTIs are finalized in consultation with State Government/UTs, Industry Stakeholders, Sector Skill Councils. (f) With a view to strengthen skill development infrastructure and enhance the capacity of National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), under Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The approved financial outlay of the Scheme is ₹60,000 crore, comprising a Central share of ₹30,000 crore, State share of ₹20,000 crore and Industry share of ₹10,000 crore. Under the Scheme, the Component-II pertains to capacity augmentation of five National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) located at Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ludhiana and Kanpur and establishment of National Centres of Excellence for Skilling at these NSTIs with Industry Collaboration and Global Partnership with an approved outlay of ₹1,500 crore.Annexure I ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (A) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 240 ANSWERED ON 09.03.2026 REGARDING “NSTI OFFERING TRAINING ON AI TRADE” State/UT-wise Detail of National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) Sl.
