GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COAL LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3980 ANSWERED ON 12.08.2026 OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY OF COAL MINES †3980. SHRI DINESHBHAI MAKWANA: SHRI BIDYUT BARAN MAHATO: SMT. KAMLESH JANGDE: Will the Minister of COAL be pleased to state: (a) the key achievements of the Government in augmenting domestic coal production including the highest-ever coal production and dispatch recorded during the last one year and the current year particularly in Chhattisgarh; and (b) the steps taken by the Government to enhance the operational efficiency of coal mines, strengthen coal evacuation infrastructure and ensure adequate coal supply to the power sector and other key industries particularly in Chhattisgarh? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COAL AND MINES (SHRI SATISH CHANDRA DUBEY) (a) The domestic coal production and dispatch in the country and in the State of Chhattisgarh during 2025-26 and current year (till June, 2026) is as under: [Figures in Million Tonnes (MT)] Country State of Chhattisgarh Year Production Dispatch Production Dispatch 2025-26 (Provisional) 1040.08 1018.29 222.04 223.33 2026-27 [till June, 2026] (Provisional) 232.49 268.04 52.61 58.47 (b) Coal evacuation infrastructure in the country is being augmented in line with the projected growth in coal production through an Integrated Coal Logistics Plan launched by Ministry of Coal in coordination with concerned Ministries and stakeholders to address the issues in the coal logistics chain. The Coal Logistics Plan envisages development of 33 critical railway projects, expansion of First Mile Connectivity (FMC) infrastructure, augmentation of rail evacuation capacity in consultation with the Ministry of Railways and promotion of multimodal transportation through rail, coastal shipping and inland waterways. To improve supply chain efficiency, 139 FMC projects having 1319 MT capacity are planned to set up by FY 2029-30. Further, coal PSUs are also implementing eight railway projects to ease coal evacuation in coal bearing States and ensuring timely coal supplies to power sector and other key industries in the country. These initiatives will enhance mechanized coal handling, reduce loading time, improve evacuation efficiency and ensure timely coal supplies to all the consuming sectors in the country, including the State of Chhattisgarh. *****
