HEMANT VISHNU SAVARA Will the PRIME MINISTER be pleased to state:- (a) the details of electricity generated by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) during each of the last five years and the current year particularly in Tarapur Atomic Power Plant in Palghar district of Maharashtra, reactor-wise; (b) the details of Plant Load Factor (PLF) achieved by NPCIL's Nuclear Power Plants during the said period, reactor-wise; (c) the details of Nuclear Power Projects presently under construction indicating their installed capacity, estimated project cost and expected date of commissioning; (d) the details of agreements and collaborations entered into by NPCIL with public sector and private sector entities during the last three years; and (e) the details of the security measures taken by NPCIL on emergency situation and proper training to the staff to handle the emergency situation in the plans particularly in Tarapur Atomic Power Plant in Palghar district of Maharashtra? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES & PENSIONS AND PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE (DR. JITENDRA SINGH) (a) & (b) The details regarding electricity generation from nuclear power plants and their PLF (including Tarapur Atomic Power Plant), during the last five years are given in Annexure. BHAVINI is commissioning the 500 MW Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu. The estimated completion cost of PFBR is Rs 8181 cr and the project is expected to get fully commissioned by Mar 2027. (d) During the last three years, NPCIL entered into agreements/ collaborations for the augmentation of nuclear power generation with: (i) Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) (ii) Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) & (iii) NLC India Limited ((formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited). (e) Adequate measures are in place to ensure the security of nuclear power plants which are subjected to periodic audits & reviews and necessary upgrades. To address the extremely unlikely event, plans approved by the regulatory authority are put in place at all Nuclear Power Plant sites, including Tarapur Atomic Power Plant, before the start of operation. Periodic exercises are carried out to confirm the decision making capabilities, implementation of security provisions, response timeline, co-ordination among response agencies, availability of necessary resources etc. All the plant personnel are well trained in safety, emergency and security measures.
