OPERATIONALISATION OF AZAMGARH AIRPORT

Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION
be pleased to state:-
(a) the date on which Azamgarh Airport was fully constructed and became ready for
operation;
(b) the details of total expenditure incurred on the construction of the said airport;
(c) whether it is a fact that all flights have been suspended following the initial inauguration
of the airport and if so, the reasons therefor;
(d) the hurdles and challenges being faced by the Government in the operationalisation of
Azamgarh Airport; and
(e) the time by which the Government proposes to overcome these hurdles and challenges in
order to make the said airport operational at the earliest?

(a) to (e): Azamgarh airport, Uttar Pradesh was developed at a cost of Rs.29.57 crore under
the RCS- UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme & was licensed as a Category ARC-2B
airport on 15.12.2023. It supports only VFR (Visual Flight Rules) operations.
FlyBig commenced RCS flight operations between Azamgarh and Lucknow on 11.03.2024.
The airline, subsequently, discontinued services due to poor visibility conditions.
Additionally, resurfacing work at Lucknow Airport was being carried out in phases, with
runway closures during daytime hours.
Flybig has novated its RCS rights and obligations to Skyhop Aviation Pvt. Ltd. for continued
operation of RCS routes of Azamgarh-Lucknow-Azamgarh route. Skyhop is currently
