Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

The Ministry of External Affairs addressed Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 984 on December 5, 2025, regarding Passport Seva Kendras in Gujarat, posed by Shri Rajesh Naranbhai Chudasama. The Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, responded that the opening of Passport Offices (POs), Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs), and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) is an ongoing activity. This is dependent on factors such as distance from existing POs/PSKs/POPSKs and the volume of passport applications from a particular region. Since January 2017, the Ministry of External Affairs, in association with the Department of Posts (DoP), decided to open Seva Kendras at Head Post Offices (HPO)/Post Offices (PO) called Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) in each Lok Sabha Constituency (LSC) where there is no PSK or POPSK. A POPSK is functional in Junagadh district in Junagadh LSC. Currently, there are 2 Regional Passport Offices (RPOs), 5 PSKs and 23 POPSKs operational in Gujarat State. The government does not have a policy under consideration to establish passport service centres in institutes other than post offices.
