be pleased to state:
(a) the details of funds sanctioned, allocated and utilised under the Public Distribution
System (PDS) scheme during the last five years and in the current year, State-wise;
(b) the details of commodities being provided through the PDS across the country including
Uttar Pradesh;
(c) the number of beneficiaries of the said scheme in Uttar Pradesh especially in Jaunpur
Lok Sabha constituency;
(d) whether the Government proposes to provide other essential food items other than
wheat and rice under PDS scheme; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): State-wise funds are not allocated by Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) reimburses the expenditure incurred by
States, who have opted for Decentralized Procurement (DCP) mode for
procurement/distribution of food grain to the Central Schemes’ beneficiaries as per allocation.
Other Non-DCP States lift the food grain from Food Corporation of India, as per their
allocation. The Detail of funds released to DCP States as food subsidy during the last five
years and in current year is placed at Annexure-I.(b): Rice. wheat and coarse grain are provided across the country including Uttar Pradesh
under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yd and (P?Y'1(3KAY).
(c): Under National Food Security Act, the present. coverage of beneficiaries in Uttar
Pradesh is 14.98 Crore including 34.65 Lakh in J3unpur district.
(d) & (e): From 01.06.20 17, in addition to n'heat and rice, 1 Kg of sugar per AAY family per
month is also provided to participating States./UniOn Territories @ Rs.18.50 per Kg. under the
scheme, nameiy, Sugar subsidy payable under PDS for AAY families.
