PENDING FUNDS UNDER MGNREGS
1505. Smt. Mala Roy:
Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether any fund has been released to the Government of West
Bengal which was pending for the last three years on account
of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee
Scheme (MGNREGS);
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN)
(a) to (c): The release of funds to the State of West Bengal under
Mahatma Gandhi NREGS was stopped with effect from 09.03.2022 by
invoking the provisions of Section 27 of the Mahatma Gandhi National
Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005, owing to continued non-
compliance with the directives of the Central Government by the
State. Hence, no fund was released to State during the last three
financial years.
However, as per the request made and clarifications
subsequently provided by the State Government, implementation of
Scheme has been resumed in the State w.e.f. 01.06.2026, and
accordingly, Labour Budget for the month of June 2026 was approved
and Mother Sanction for an amount of Rs. 346.58 Crore was also
issued.
Further, on implementation of Viksit Bharat- Guarantee for
Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM G in the State from
01.07.2026, Interim Allocation of Rs. 8508 Crore has been made for
FY 2026-27 (01.07.2026 to 31.03.2027) and Mother Sanction for an
amount of Rs. 1264.49 Crore has already been issued.
