Parliament Question: PM-KUSUM in Odisha

APARAJITA SARANGI WILL THE MINISTER OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY BE PLEASED TO STATE: (a) the corrective measures taken or proposed by the Government under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) to achieve the set solar capacity target in the State of Odisha; and (b) the revised timeline if any set for achieving the remaining capacity under Component A of PM-KUSUM in the State of Odisha? (SHRI PRALHAD JOSHI) (a) & (b) A Statement is laid on the Table of the House. *****STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *143 FOR ANSWER ON 29.07.2026 (a) The PM KUSUM is a demand driven scheme and is being implemented in all states, including Odisha. Implementation of the scheme is the responsibility of State Implementing Agencies (SIAs). Based on the demand raised by the state, quantities have been allocated under all Components of the scheme to the state of Odisha. As reported by State Implementing Agencies (SIAs) of Odisha, the progress in the state of Odisha is as follows: (as on 30.06.2026) Component SIA for Odisha Sanctioned Installed B (No. of pumps) Odisha Renewable Energy 18,441 15,780 Development Agency 20 Under Installation A (in MW) DISCOMS 70 2 C (FLS) (TATA Power Central Odisha 5,223 Under Installation (No. of pumps) Distribution Limited) The Ministry has simplified the procedures and issued comprehensive revised guidelines on 17.01.2024 for ease of implementation of the scheme. The Ministry reviews the progress and implementation of the Scheme from time to time, in consultation with the States/UTs and other stakeholders, with a view to assess implementation on the ground and facilitate achievement of the intended objectives of the Scheme, including benefits to farmers. The recent review cum capacity building meeting held on 8 July 2026, with representatives of all the States, including Odisha, and their empanelled vendors reviewed the progress of implementation of the Scheme and related operational matters including sharing of the best practices in the implementation of various components of PM KUSUM. (b) The implementation timeline for all components in PM KUSUM, including Component A, has been extended till 31 March 2027, for those projects where Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed by 31.12.2025.
