ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER
(SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK)
(a) The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY), launched in February 2024, is a demand
driven scheme wherein all residential consumers in the country having grid connected electricity
connection of the local DISCOM can avail the benefits of the scheme, for installation of rooftop
solar (RTS) systems, by applying on the National Portal of the scheme.
Under the scheme, since its launch in February 2024, a total of 11,72,448 applications have been
received on the National Portal in the state of Uttar Pradesh, as on 06.03.2026. These include 5,632
applications from the Domariyaganj Lok Sabha Constituency.
(b) Under the PMSG: MBY, it has been estimated that RTS installation in one crore households
will produce renewable electricity of 1,000 billion units.
(c) At present, there is no proposal under consideration to expand the PMSG: MBY beyond the
Financial Year 2026 - 27.
