2020. MS. S JOTHIMANI:
Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of individual micro food processing units in Tamil Nadu that have been sanctioned and disbursed credit-linked capital subsidies under the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme since its inception and the total funds released to the State so far;
(b) the total number of community members and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Tamil Nadu who have received seed capital support under this scheme;
(c) the current implementation status of ongoing food processing projects and infrastructure units sanctioned in Tamil Nadu under the various component schemes of Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY); and
(d) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from the State Government or private entities to set up Agro-Processing Clusters, cold chains, or mini food parks in the Karur district of Tamil Nadu under current active central schemes, and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI CHIRAG PASWAN)
(a): As on 30th June 2026, under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, loans for 19,279 individual micro food processing enterprises have been sanctioned and 17,632 loans have been disbursed for credit-linked capital subsidies in the State of Tamil Nadu. Centre share funds of Rs. 391.20 crore have been allocated/ released to the State of Tamil Nadu, for implementation of various components of the scheme.
(b): Under the scheme, Seed Capital support of Rs. 141.42 crore has been sanctioned for 36,697 Self Help Group (SHG) members of 33,768 SHG enterprises in the State of Tamil Nadu.(c): As on 30.06.2026 Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), 171 projects have been approved in Tamil Nadu, of which 117 projects have been completed/ operational under PMKSY. The component-wise status is as under:

(d): Ministry does not set up any food processing projects on its own but extends financial assistance under PMKSY for setting up or expansion of eligible projects. PMKSY component schemes are demand driven in nature and applications are invited through Expression of Interest
(EoI) from all over the country including Tamil Nadu. Proposals received are scrutinized for eligibility and evaluated as per the extant scheme guidelines. Financial assistance is provided to eligible projects approved on merit, subject to availability of funds.
As on 30.06.2026, no project to set up Agro-Processing Clusters, cold chains, or mini food parks, has been approved in Karur district of Tamil Nadu. *****
