Amarsing Tisso: Will the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has sanctioned any projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for fisheries development in the hill and tribal districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao in Assam; (b) if so, the details of projects approved, funds sanctioned and funds released during the last three years, district-wise; and (c) the steps being taken by the Government to ensure sustainable fisheries livelihood opportunities in these districts, keeping in view their hilly terrain and tribal population? ANSWER MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH) (a) to (c) : The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in the year 2020-21 has rolled out a flagship scheme the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with an investment of Rs. 20,750 crores in the fisheries sector in all the States/Union Territories including Assam State. PMMSY inter-alia, envisages to address critical gaps in fish production, productivity, quality, technology, post-harvest infrastructure and management, modernization and strengthening of value chain, reduction of post-harvest losses, traceability etc. For holistic development of the fisheries sector in the state of Assam, Department of Fisheries, Government of India accorded approval to the projects at a total cost of Rs. 339.47 crore with the central share of Rs. 201.84 crore during last 3 years (2022-23 to 2024-25). As reported by the Government of Assam, an amount of Rs. 3.93 crore has been approved and Rs. 2.62 crore has been released for different fisheries developmental activities in the district of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao during last 3 years (2022-23 to 2024-25).
