Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state :-
(a) the details of prevailing political and security situation in Bangladesh;
(b) the Government’s assessment of the situation evolving in Bangladesh,
particularly in view of the growing interest and involvement of certain
foreign powers in the region;
(c) whether the Government perceives any potential security or strategic
threat to India arising from the present situation in Bangladesh; and
(d) if so, the steps being taken by the Government to safeguard India’s
national interests and to effectively address security challenges posed by
any adverse developments along both its eastern and western borders?

(a to d) The political and security situation in Bangladesh remains
dynamic and evolving. India and Bangladesh share multifaceted, and deep-
rooted bilateral ties, underpinned by decades of close engagement, which
provides the foundation for continuing bilateral interactions. The
Government of India closely monitors all developments in Bangladesh that
may have a bearing on India’s interests and on broader regional peace and
security, and continues to take all necessary measures to safeguard India’s
national interests.
The Government also maintains a constant vigil along the border and
continues to undertake appropriate measures towards ensuring India’s
safety and security.
