MAYA NAROIIYA: Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Ministry has drawn a phase-wise roadmap to enhance India’s port handling capacity from the current level to the targeted 180 million metric tonnes (MMT) by 2047; (b) if so, the details of the milestones achieved as of 2025; and (c) the details of capacity augmentation projects undertaken during the last five years, port-wise? ANSWER MINISTER OF PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL) (a) and (b)Yes. The Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime AmritKaal Vision 2047 have been prepared by the Ministry as roadmap for 2030 and 2047 respectively to enhance the Indian ports handling capacity from current levelto ~10,000million tonnes per annum (MTPA)by 2047.As on 31.03.2025, the Indian Port cargo handling capacity has reached 2771 MTPA.
