SHRI JAGADISH CHANDRA BARMA BASUNIA: Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state: (a) the details of post-harvest loss incurred in cereals (in value and volume) since 2014, year and crop-wise; (b) the details of value addition (in value and volume) done in cereals since 2014, year and crop- wise; (c) the details of storage, processing and transportation infrastructure created for cereals through various schemes of the Ministry including the number of projects sanctioned and completed, capacity added (category-wise in MT) since 2014, year and State-wise; and (d) the details of the funds released and utilised for such projects since 2014, year and State- wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI CHIRAG PASWAN) (a) to (d): A statement is laid on the Table of the House. *****ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *192 FOR ANSWER ON 12TH FEBRUARY, 2026 ON “POST HARVEST LOSSES IN CEREALS” (a) The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) estimates post-harvest losses from time to time for various agri-produces in the country through commissioning of studies based on primary surveys. Two studies were commissioned by the Ministry through (i) Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) -Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering & Technology (CIPHET), 2015 with reference year 2012-14 and (ii) NABARD Consultancy Service Pvt. Ltd (NABCONS), 2022 with reference year 2020-22. The available studies on post-harvest losses are periodic in nature and do not provide year-wise estimates since 2014. As per these two studies, five crops were covered in the category Cereals. The available studies on level of processing are periodic in nature and do not provide year-wise estimates. Financial assistance to create infrastructure for various commodities including cereals is provided under the Creation / Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) component scheme of PMKSY. The component schemes under PMKSY are demand driven and proposals are invited by floating Expression of Interest (EoI) from time to time based on availability of funds. Under the schemes, funds are not allocated State-wise/ sector –wise. Under CEFPPC Scheme, 69 projects related to cereal processing have been approved throughout the country with total project cost of ₹1075.1 crore, total approved grant-in-aid of ₹278.49 crore, total released grant-in-aid of ₹229.98 crore and total capacity created of 29.60 LMT/Annum. Out of these 69 projects, 54 projects have been completed as on 31st December, 2025.
