PRIVATE INVESTMENT IN SOLAR, TIDAL, WIND AND BIOMASS ENERGY
GENERATING UNITS
2867. SHRI PARIMAL NATHWANI
Will the Minister of New and Renewable Energy be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government proposes to set up more solar, tidal, wind and biomass energy generating
units in the country through private investments, if so, the details thereof, State-wise and location-
wise;
(b) the amount invested by the private investors in each State, project-wise during the last three years;
and
(c) the power generated through solar, tidal, wind and biomass energy generating units during the last
three years, State-wise?

(SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK)
(a) Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is working towards achieving 500 GW of
installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel-based sources by 2030. As on 28.02.2026, a total
of 266.67 GW renewable energy capacity has been installed in the country. This includes 143.60
GW solar power, 55.13 GW wind power, 56.33 GW hydro power, and 11.61 GW bio power. State-
wise details are given at Annexure-I.
The Ministry has also taken an initiative for setting up a demonstration tidal energy project of 500
kW Tidal Power Plant in Arunachal Pradesh. The project was sanctioned by MNRE on 17.12.2025.
(b) Most of the utility-scale renewable energy projects in the country are being set up by developers,
selected through a transparent bidding process. The average capital cost (indicative) of setting up of
renewable energy projects are as under:

The cost of renewable energy projects may vary depending on factors such as technology, location,
scale and resource availability.

(c) State-wise details of electricity generated through various sources of renewable energy during
the last three financial years and the current financial year (upto January 2026) are given at
Annexure-III.
