PRIVATIZATION OF RINL
3979. SHRI YERRAM VENKATA SUBBA REDDY:
Will the Minister of STEEL be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) has started the
process of privatizing/outsourcing Sinter plant, SMS-I of RINL;
(b) if so, the present status of the same;
(c) whether RINL has issued a tender for handling and maintenance of Thermal Power
Plant and Coal Handling Plant of RINL;
(d) if so, the reasons therefor;
(e) whether it is not tantamount to privatizing steel plant in stages; and
(f) the steps Government is taking to stop privatizing and merging RINL with Steel
Authority of India Limited (SAIL)?

MINISTRY OF STEEL
(a)to(d): Assets of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) are handled by regular
manpower. For some activities, assistance through agencies is taken. This is in line
with steel plants of other Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSEs).
(e)&(f): Does not arise.
