GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF STEEL RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 946 FOR ANSWER ON 06.02.2026 PRODUCTION LINKED INCENTIVE SCHEME FOR SPECIALTY STEEL 946. SHRI DEEPAK PRAKASH: Will the Minister of STEEL be pleased to state: (a) whether domestic production of specialty steel has increased after the launch of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Specialty Steel, if so, the year-wise details thereof along with the production level; (b) whether any funds have been disbursed under the Scheme, along with the amount disbursed to beneficiary units up to December 2025; (c) the per ton cost of steel produced by private sector units and by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), respectively; and (d) whether Government has reviewed the utilisation efficiency and compliance status of PLI beneficiaries, if so, details of the findings of such review and the corrective measures adopted? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA) MINISTRY OF STEEL (a)to(d): Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Specialty Steel was approved by the Union Cabinet to promote the manufacturing of "Specialty Steel" within the country by attracting capital investment, generate employment and promote technology up-gradation in the steel sector. A total of 2487 (‘000t) of specialty steel has been produced domestically under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme till December, 2025. Incentive amount of ₹ 235.73 crores have been disbursed to the companies so far. The Ministry of Steel regularly reviews the performance of participating companies with respect to committed investment, production, sales and other scheme-specific parameters. Based on these reviews, it has been observed that a majority of beneficiaries are progressing as per approved milestones and in some cases delays have occurred due to factors such as market conditions, supply-chain constraints and project-specific issues. *****
