Production Unit of IMPC
4680. Shri V K Sreekandan:
Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that Indian Medicines Pharmaceuticals Corporation Limited (IMPC)
has only one production unit that is at Uttarakhand, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether it is also a fact that there is a need to expand its production facilities due to
growing demand for Indian medicines, if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether IMPC is considering to put up a production unit in Kerala where medicinal herbal
plants including rare herbal medicinal plants are available, if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether it is also true that products of the said Corporation are only available through the
Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) and it is not available in the open market, if so,
the details thereof; and
(e) whether the said Corporation is considering to make their products available in the open
market, if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER

(a): As per the information provided by the Ministry of Ayush, Indian Medicines
Pharmaceuticals Corporation Limited (IMPCL) has only one production unit in Uttarakhand
located at Mohan (Via Ramnagar), Almora, Uttarakhand – 244 715.
(b): Ministry of Ayush has informed that there is no such proposal under consideration.
(c): Ministry of Ayush has informed that there is no proposal to put up a production unit in
Kerala.
(d): Ministry of Ayush has informed that IMPCL products are available through Central
Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC),
Central Government Institutes & Councils. In open market IMPCL’s selected product range
is available on 1mg & Mystore (Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) Platform).
(e): Ministry of Ayush has informed that currently selected product range of IMPCL is
available on 1mg & Mystore (Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) Platform). No
proposals are pending for further expansion in the open market.
