GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 470 ANSWERED ON 03.02.2026 PROGRESS IN PM SURYA GHAR: MUFT BIJLI YOJANA 470. SHRI UJJWAL DEORAO NIKAM Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state: (a) the total number of households benefited under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana as of December 2025, State-wise; (b) the rooftop solar installations completed and the subsidy disbursed under the scheme; (c) the State-wise progress and the top performing States in scheme implementation; and (d) the expected clean energy generation and carbon emission reduction over the scheme's lifetime? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) to (c) PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) is a demand driven scheme wherein all residential consumers in the country having grid connected electricity connection of the local DISCOM can avail the benefits of the scheme, for installation of rooftop solar (RTS) systems, by applying on the National Portal of the scheme. Since the launch of the scheme in February, 2024, a total of 20,85,514 RTS systems have been installed across the country, benefitting 26,14,446 households with disbursement of Rs 14,771.82 crore as Central Financial Assistance (CFA) till December 2025. The state/UT-wise detail of progress made under the scheme, in the order of number of RTS systems installed, is given in Annexure.
