Parliament Question: Projects approved and implemented under PMKSY in Tamil Nadu

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 885 ANSWERED ON 06TH FEBRUARY, 2026 PROJECTS APPROVED AND IMPLEMENTED UNDER PMKSY IN TAMIL NADU 885. SHRI R. DHARMAR: Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state: (a) the number of projects approved under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) in Tamil Nadu, and the benefits provided to farmers in terms of cold chain infrastructure and food processing; (b) the steps taken to address the challenges faced by small-scale farmers in accessing the benefits of PMKSY, particularly in rural Tamil Nadu; and (c) the timeline by which Government expects to complete the targeted projects under PMKSY, and the steps being taken to ensure that benefits of the scheme reach small and marginal farmers who have been traditionally excluded from large-scale agricultural processing mechanism? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI RAVNEET SINGH) (a): The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been implementing a Central Sector Umbrella Scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojna (PMKSY) since 2017. Under various components of PMKSY, 155 number of projects have been approved in Tamil Nadu and out of these 113 projects have been completed/operationalised. With the Creation of Cold Chain and Food Processing Infrastructure under PMKSY, the demand for Farm produce which is raw material for Food Processing industries increases leading to better prices to farmers and increasing farm gate profitability. In the state of Tamil Nadu under PMKSY 3,65,284 no. of farmers have been benefitted till date. (b) and (c): The gestation period for completion of projects in respect of component schemes of PMKSY varies from 18 to 30 months and funds are released on reimbursement basis in 2 to 3 instalments after submission of requisite documents as per the guidelines of the concerned component scheme. Under the PMKSY scheme, project proposals are invited from time to time from across the country including rural areas by floating Expression of Interests (EoIs) on the Ministry’s website. Wide publicity is given to the component schemes under PMKSY by circulation through Press Information Bureau (PIB) and publishing in leading national and regional newspapers and through various social media platforms. Private sector participants including small and marginal farmers as well as entities/ organizations such as FPOs/FPCs/NGOs/PSUs/Firms/Companies, etc. are eligible to avail benefits under the scheme. Under the scheme of Promotional Activities of MoFPI, Ministry has provided financial assistance to various eligible organizations for organizing 48 events such as seminars, workshops, conferences, exhibitions etc. across the country during the year 2025 to create awareness among private sector stakeholders including small and marginal farmers on various schemes of the Ministry. *****
