GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO – 5664 FOR 27.03.2026 PROMOTION OF YOGA AND NATUROPATHY SYSTEMS 5664. SHRI MANI A Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state: (a) whether the National and International conferences and awareness programmes are being organised every year to popularise and promote Yoga and Naturopathy systems in the country in connection with the observance of Naturopathy Day during the last six years and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether any such conferences, workshops, public outreach programmes or awareness campaigns have been conducted to encourage the adoption of Yoga and Naturopathy among the public, students and healthcare practitioners in the State of Tamil Nadu and if so, the details thereof; (c) whether district-level events, training programmes or awareness activities have been organized in rural or backward districts including the Dharmapuri district as part of the efforts to popularize Yoga and Naturopathy practices and if so, the details thereof; (d) whether local Yoga institutions, naturopathy centres and AYUSH practitioners from Dharmapuri district have been involved in such programmes and if so, the details thereof; and (e) the steps taken by the Government to further expand awareness and participation in Yoga and Naturopathy systems in Tamil Nadu, particularly in districts such as Dharmapuri? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) Yes, National and International conferences and awareness programmes are being organised every year to popularise and promote Yoga and Naturopathy systems in the country in connection with the observance of Naturopathy Day during the last six years. Details of such programs is attached at Annexure A.(b) Ministry of Ayush promotes Yoga through its three autonomous bodies namely Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi, Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), New Delhi and National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Pune. These bodies conduct programs such as Naturopathy Day conferences, International Day of Yoga outreach, and academic collaborations which includes participation from institutions and practitioners from Tamil Nadu along with other States. These programmes include scientific sessions, student participation, public awareness lectures and practical workshops aimed at promoting Yoga and Naturopathy adoption. The details of International Day of Yoga(IDY) countdown programs conducted in the state of Tamil Nadu is indicated at Annexure B. (c) to (d) The three autonomous bodies namely MDNIY, CCRYN and NIN regularly conduct awareness and promotion activities on Yoga and Naturopathy. Apart from this, Ministry of Ayush has been celebrating International Day of Yoga throughout the Nation since 2014. As part of theses celebrations and activities, all the state governments including district administration undertake various programs to spread awareness and popularity for adoption, propagation and practice of Yoga. (e) Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) in collaboration with local institutes, conducts yoga camps, awareness programmes, workshops, outreach activities, observance of International Day of Yoga and Naturopathy Day to promote Yoga and Naturopathy across the country, including Tamil Nadu.
