SHRI NIRANJAN BISHI Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether Government proposes to connect the State of Odisha's mining and industrial regions directly with financial hubs like Mumbai and Delhi through dedicated business routes; and (b) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) & (b): Five Airports are operational in the State of Odisha, of which four namely Jharsuguda, Jeypore, Rourkela and Utkela airports have been developed and operationalised under the RCS-UDAN Scheme. At present, M/s Indigo Airlines operates direct flights from Jharsuguda to Mumbai and Delhi. The commencement of flight operations from any airport in the country is a commercial decision of the airlines, based on the economic and operational viability of the route and other associated factors. With the repeal of the Air Corporations Act in March 1994, the Indian domestic aviation sector was fully deregulated. Airlines are free to induct capacity with any type of aircraft and to determine the markets and routes they wish to serve. ******
