**Summary:**
In response to a question regarding the upgrade and development of the existing Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) at Nagaur in Rajasthan and the establishment of a new PSK at Didwana-Kuchaman, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has provided the following information. The Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in Nagaur currently functions as an extension of the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Jaipur, processing 40 normal passport appointments daily with appointment availability within 14 working days. Given the existing functionality of the POPSK in Nagaur, the government does not deem it necessary to upgrade it to a full-fledged Passport Office. The establishment of new PSKs/POPSKs is an ongoing process contingent on factors such as distance from existing facilities and application volume. As of July 25, 2025, 93 PSKs and 450 POPSKs are operational nationwide. The MEA, in collaboration with the Department of Posts (DoP), initiated a program in January 2017 to establish POPSKs at Head Post Offices (HPO)/Post Offices (PO) in each Lok Sabha Constituency (LSC) where no PSK/POPSK exists, including those in Rajasthan.

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to upgrade and develop the
existing Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) located at Nagaur in Rajasthan
into a full-fledged Passport Office by expanding its staff and services,
if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up a PSK at the district
headquarters of Didwana-Kuchaman in Nagaur Lok Sabha
Constituency in public interest and if so, the timeframe by which it is
likely to be set up and if not, the reasons therefor?

1(a) Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) Nagaur is working as
an extended arm of the Regional Passport Office, Jaipur. 40
appointments for normal passport are released daily and appointment
is available in 14 working days. Considering the fact that POPSK
Nagaur is already functioning under RPO Jaipur, the Government does
not consider it necessary to upgrade it into a Passport Office.
(b) Opening of a PSK/POPSK is an on-going activity and depends upon
various factors including distance from an existing PSK / POPSK and
the volume of passport applications from a particular region. Ministry
of External Affairs (MEA) in association with Department of Posts
(DoP) had decided in January 2017 to open Passport Seva Kendras at
the Head Post Offices (HPO)/ Post Offices (PO) in the country called
Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in each Lok Sabha
Constituency (LSC) in India, including in Rajasthan, where there is no
PSK or POPSK. As on date, 93 PSKs and 450 POPSKs have been set up
in the country and are operational to cater to the needs of passport
seekers.
