PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM MODERNIZATION AND FOOD SECURITY
ENHANCEMENT IN PEDDAPALLI DISTRICT
3200. SHRI VAMSI KRISHNA GADDAM:
Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION
be pleased to state:
(a): the specific allocation of foodgrains under the National Food Security Act for Peddapalli
Lok Sabha Constituency during the last five years, year-wise, particularly focusing on coverage of
coal mining workers and their families under the Priority Household category;
(b): the implementation status of One Nation One Ration Card system in Peddapalli Lok Sabha
Constituency to ensure portability of food security benefits for migrant workers employed in coal
mining and thermal power industries;
(c): the establishment of additional fair price shops in remote coal mining areas of Peddapalli
Lok Sabha Constituency where existing PDS infrastructure is inadequate to serve the growing
industrial workforce population;
(d): the specific provisions made for ensuring food quality testing and monitoring mechanisms
in PDS outlets serving industrial areas prone to dust pollution and environmental contamination;
and
(e): the digital transformation progress of fair price shops in Peddapalli Lok Sabha
Constituency through electronic Point of Sale devices and automation to prevent leakages and
ensure transparent distribution?

(a): As informed by the State Government of Telangana, allocation of foodgrains for Peddapalli
in last five year for Priority household (PHH) category are as follow:

2025 1678.134(b): The One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) system has been implemented in the State of
Telangana since 2019 covering all 33 districts, including Peddapalli, to enable portability of food
security benefits for all beneficiaries. The facility is enabled in the State covering almost 100%
beneficiaries under PMGKAY/NFS A, including migrant workers employed in various sectors such
as coal mining and thermal power industries.
(c): As per the Government of Telangana, 410 Fair Price Shops (FPSs) are presently functioning
in Peddapalli district for distribution of foodgrains under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
The establishment and rationalization of FPSs is the responsibility of the concerned State/UT
Government.
(d): The Department has formulated and issued a Quality Control Manual to uniformly maintain
the quality standards of foodgrains from procurement to its distribution to the eligible beneficiaries.
Further, National Food security Act 2013 provides that every State Governments shall put in place
an internal grievance redressal mechanism which may include call centres, help lines, designation
of nodal officers, other mechanism for effective redressal of grievances of the aggrieved persons in
matters relating to distribution of entitled foodgrains.
(e): As per the Government of Telangana, PDS transactions, including allocation and
distribution of foodgrains in all districts, are carried out through electronic Point of Sale (e-PoS)
devices at FPSs. These devices enable Aadhaar-based biometric authentication of beneficiaries and
real-time recording of transactions, thereby helping to prevent leakages and ensuring transparency
in distribution
