SHRI THARANIVENTHAN M S: SHRI ANURAG SHARMA: Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING मत्स्यपालन, पशुपालन और डेयरी मंत्री be pleased to State: (a) whether the Government will furnish the year-wise details of implementation of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) since its inception, including number of indigenous breed development centres, semen stations, bulls inducted and artificial insemination coverage achieved, State-wise, including Lok Sabha Constituency, Arani of Tamil Nadu; (b) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised and the number of farmers benefited under the Mission during the last five years, State-wise including Tamil Nadu; (c) whether any assessment has been conducted on improvement in milk productivity, genetic upgradation and conservation of indigenous bovine breeds, if so, the details thereof; (d) whether challenges such as uneven breed coverage, infrastructure gaps and shortage of trained personnel have been reported and corrective steps taken by the Government thereon; (e) the steps taken by the Government to strengthen indigenous cattle conservation, expand artificial insemination and advance breeding technologies, expand AI network and improve dairy farmer income and enhance the productivity and sustainability of dairy sector in the country including particularly in Tamil Nadu and allied sector support; (f) the progress made under the Mission including the number of Gokul Grams, semen stations, In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) laboratories and other breeding infrastructure established, State/UT-wise; and (g) the details of indigenous cattle breed conserved and genetically improved under the Mission, along with the increase in milk productivity achieved? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH) (a) to (g) In order to supplement the efforts of the States and Union Territories, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India is implementing Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) since December 2014 for development and conservation of indigenous breeds, genetic upgradation of bovine population and enhancement of milk production and productivity. All indigenous bovine breeds as notified by National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources are covered and promoted under the scheme. The RGM scheme is demand driven and the proposals received from the States/UTs are considered as per guidelines.During the last five years, an amount of Rs. 12,748.69 lakh have been released and utilized in Tamil Nadu under National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) scheme for the creation and strengthening of dairy infrastructure in the State. The implementation of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) and other measures undertaken by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying and State Government, the milk production in the country has increased from 146 Million Tonnes in 2014-15 to 248 Million Tonnes in 2024-25 that is by 70%. The productivity of indigenous and non-descript cattle in the country has improved from 2.54 kilograms per animal per day in 2014–15 to 3.86 kilograms per animal per day in 2024–25. Similarly, the total milk production in Tamil Nadu has grown from 7.13 million tonnes in 2014-15 to 11.44 million tonnes in 2024–25, reflecting an impressive 60% increase and the productivity of indigenous and non-descript cattle in Tamil Nadu has improved from 2.65 kilograms per animal per day in 2014–15 to 3.28 kilograms per animal per day in 2024–25, marking increase of 24%.
