SHRI SELVAM G: Will the Minister of TEXTILES वस्त्र मंत्री be pleased to state : (a) the details of the Raw Material Supply Scheme being implemented for handloom weavers and artisans in Tamil Nadu and the quantity of yarn and other raw materials supplied during the last five years, district-wise; (b) the details and number of handloom weavers, cooperative societies, Self Help Groups and producer organizations in Tamil Nadu that have benefited under the scheme; (c) whether the Government has received representations regarding rising prices and inadequate availability of cotton yarn, silk yarn and dyes affecting handloom clusters and if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon; (d) the details of amount of subsidy and financial assistance released to Tamil Nadu under the scheme; and (e) the details of steps being taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of quality raw materials and improve the competitiveness of Tamil Nadu’s handloom sector? उत्तर ANSWER वस्त्र राज् य मंत्री (श्री पबित्र मार्घरे रटा) THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR TEXTILES (SHRI PABITRA MARGHERITA) (a): Raw Material Supply Scheme (RMSS) is being implemented across the country including Tamil Nadu to make available Yarn to Handloom workers at reasonable price. Under RMSS, freight charges are reimbursed for all types of yarn and 15% price subsidy is provided for cotton hank yarn, domestic silk, wool and linen and blended yarn of natural fibres. Quantity of 516.56 lakh kg yarn has been supplied to weavers during last five years in Tamil Nadu. (b): In the state of Tamil Nadu, a total of 95,884 handlooms have been covered through yarn passbook under RMSS, which includes 816 no of cooperative societies, Nil Self Help Groups, 21 producer organizations of the state that have benefited under the RMSS. (c): No such representations have been received. (d): Rs. 251.28 crores subsidy and financial assistance have been released to Tamil Nadu during last five years under RMSS. (e): There are 01 Regional Office in Coimbatore, 5 Branch Offices, 170 Yarn Depots and 2 Warehouses to ensure uninterrupted supply of quality raw materials and improve the competitiveness of Tamil Nadu’s handloom sector. *****
