SHRI MAHESH KASHYAP: Will the Minister of STEEL be pleased to state: (a) the total number of recruitments made in the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and NMDC Steel Limited during the last three years, year-wise; (b) the number of posts on which the youth of Bastar Lok Sabha Constituency has been appointed through the said recruitment; (c) the details of the skill development and apprenticeship programmes being implemented for the local youth; and (d) whether any policy is being formulated to accord priority to the local qualified youth in future recruitments? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA) MINISTRY OF STEEL (a)&(b): Details of the total number of recruitments made and number of posts on which the persons belonging to Bastar Lok Sabha Constituency has been appointed in the NMDC Limited and NMDC Steel Limited during the last three years is given below: - Total number of posts on which the Total number of persons belonging to Bastar Lok Year recruitments made Sabha constituency has been appointed 2023 254 108 2024 209 101 2025 710 66 (c)&(d): The Government of India has taken up following skill development and apprenticeship programmes for the local beneficiaries: - (i) Under the Government of India's Skill India Mission (SIM), the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implements skill, re-skill and up-skill training through an extensive network of skill development centres/institutes under various schemes, namely Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). These schemes are demand-driven, and training centres are established or engaged based on requirement. Contd…..2/-::2:: (ii) NMDC Ltd. implements various skill development initiatives under its CSR programme across the Aspirational Districts of Dantewada, Bastar, Bijapur, Kondagaon, Narayanpur and Sukma in Chhattisgarh to promote technical education and enhance the employability of local youth. Accordingly, NMDC has established a Polytechnic College at Dantewada, an ITI at Bhansi (Dantewada), and an ITI at Nagarnar (Jagdalpur). During Financial Year 2025–26, NMDC, in collaboration with CIPET, provided skill development training to local youth from Dantewada and Bastar, and also sponsored tribal students in medical technology and allied healthcare courses. (iii) The National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology (NISST), established by the Ministry of Steel, serves as an industry-oriented skill development and technology support centre for the secondary steel sector. NISST regularly conducts skill development programmes, technical training and capacity-building initiatives for personnel engaged in the secondary steel industry. The training covers specialised areas such as Industrial Safety, Quality Improvement, Energy Efficiency, Scrap Segregation and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to enhance the technical capabilities of industry personnel. *****
