Parliament Question: Registration of Madrasas

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MINORITY AFFAIRS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4106# ANSWERED ON 30.03.2026 REGISTRATION OF MADRASAS 4106# DR. BHIM SINGH: Will the Minister of MINORITY AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the State-wise number of Madrasas currently registered in the country and the number of Madrasas found operating without registration/approval; (b) the details of the survey/investigation conducted to identify illegal Madrasas; and (c) the steps taken by the Central Government in coordination with the State Governments to impose check on illegal Madrasas to ensure compliance with education standards and to connect children with the formal education system? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF MINORITY AFFAIRS (SHRI KIREN RIJIJU) (a) to (c): As per UDISE Report for the year 2024-25, prepared by Ministry of Education, there are 19690 registered Madrasas in the Country. The details can be accessed at https://dashboard.udiseplus.gov.in/ . The Ministry of Minority Affairs has not conducted any survey to identify illegal Madrasas. *****
